Ten more tales from Hahn's great collection, completing the tales that passed this shelf's screens. A liar stakes twenty purses on the tallest tale ever told — and wins by trapping his hearer in his own words. A fisher's son lets the rope be cut at the cliff's edge and wins a princess with three nuts' worth of wit. A travelling chest flies its master to a castle window, and a godfather's thanks turns to thunder in the night. Three brothers race to cure a dying princess with a scented apple, a flying rug and a far-seeing glass. A jackdaw-maiden chooses the boy who never asks where she came from. Two champion liars wager a herd of buffaloes on a donkey, a pumpkin and a fox. A charcoal-burner's daughter catches Death himself by the leg — and pays for telling. A cook's son spends earrings and an emerald to buy three nights in the bride's house and undo a witch's hair-spell. Elves keep a fisher's lost child safe in their bright hall, and set him home again. And a vixen christens her godchildren Little Beginning, Little Middle and Little Upended — out of her neighbour's honey pot. The episode opens and closes with its theme, Subterranean Earth, heard also briefly between the stories.

A note on selection: this shelf reads the Greek tales of Hahn's 1864 collection that sit within KacheliTV's house rules. Two tales are excluded by name — No. 36 (The Golden Hen) and No. 56 (The Pepper Mill); the volume's Drakos, dragon-slayer and strong-man tales are excluded as a class; and every other Greek tale of both parts of the volume was read in full and excluded by name — the register stands in the shelf's canon, so no completeness is claimed for the collection. Four tales stand benched for a ruling (Nos. 27, 54, 77 and 83) and one is held (No. 76, Dionysos); with this part, the tales that passed the shelf's screens have all been read. The collection's Albanian tales are not part of this shelf.

From Griechische und albanesische Märchen by Johann Georg von Hahn (Leipzig: Wilhelm Engelmann, 1864), public domain — Greek tales 39, 40, 46, 47, 57, 59, 60, 71, 84 and 89, complete and in book order, in a fresh in-house English translation from the German. Narrated by Felix. Theme: Subterranean Earth.
